2nd annual Blubber Burn Classic

Posted in Uncategorized by capitalcitycycles on January 10, 2011

It’s on! The second annual Blubber Burn cross race on January 23rd. If you like cross and mountain biking you’ll love this race. Super technical and fun course at Hartland mountain bike area (The Dump) in Victoria. This race is for fun but don’t expect people to go easy on you. Last year we had a really good race and the pace was fast.

If you don’t want to ride but are interested, come and watch! Seeing people bomb down Niteshift in the drops on a crossbike (Cam Maysmith) is a sight to see! So this race is not only fun to race, it’s awesome to watch.

Like the poster says; it’s a cross race so bring your cross bike. The conditions at the dump differ a bit from your normal cross race so I suggest high tire pressures, or you’ll get a flat. Mountain bikes are allowed as singlespeeds only so you either have to lock out your derailleurs or set it up as a true singlespeed to race. Bikes will be inspected by “race officials” before the race. We also intend to hold back mountain bikers at the start to keep things fair. Most cross riders will only use a couple of gears on 80% of the course so its not unfair for the mountain bikers either. I’ll preride the course on my cross bike and my mountain bike and set up the start accordingly.

This is going to be fun.
